Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire resides in a uninhabited area of Montreal Island, which is known as West Island. It is the West Island, to those not familiar with it, is a vast region that runs from Lachine to the west. Amanda Brugel's birthplace is frequently mentioned, but her brief stay did not last long. Brugel lived in Courtice near Oshawa the city of Ontario. She wanted to become professional, however due to a rapid growth spurt she outgrew all of her dancing partners. A Toronto Star article revealed she's 6ft 1in tall in heels. When I outgrew my male friends, I quit. Many ex-dancers switch to acting. In the case of Brugel it was the guidance by her drama instructor in high school who pushed her in the direction she needed. One of her teachers suggested she try out for a school production. She was able to audition and be cast in the role of Anne of Green Gables. A Fine Arts Talent Scholarship led her to York University, where she was a theatre student and earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts in the year 2000. Since then, Brugel's been performing in over 60 plays, smaller and large. One of the most memorable was the time she was cast as Rita on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel was the only Canadian cast member for Season 1 of the series and not seen much.
